Updates since the last post...

Major things have happened since the last time I posted something here...

Secondary school exams are over, except for the 'o' levels. Poly students head back to school again after their holidays. 3 weeks of CEC have also passed. And our church has bought a place of our own.

What a major few weeks it has been.

This Sunday we'll be wrapping up lesson 7, on "submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ". (Eph 5:21) Do join us!

We'll be having lunch together as a church too. I'm so looking forward to that.

Until next time...

CEC meetings 31st Aug & 7th Sep

CEC has been set differently these 2 weeks, as we had combined class. Worship service has been rather long these 2 weeks, so we've gone right into the Bible study. We've learnt about how we should live our lives as we've explored the rich instructions from Ephesians.

Combined class has gone pretty well so far; more people means more comments, more points of view and more sharing. We may consider doing it this way more often, even all the time, we'll see how it goes.

End year exam season has begun... Major exams this year; Dorcas and Jayne having their 'A' levels; Ting, Mark and Shermaine having their 'O' levels; and Benjamin having his PSLE. (Hope I didn't miss anyone) Also all the schooling youths who have end year exams. Do work hard and do well!!

We've been missing the company of some of our good friends recently, as discussed on Sunday. We're praying for you to come and worship and fellowship together with us again. Do come...

End of the year also means long school hols are coming... (of course for our Poly friends, they are having long hols now...) Look out for events coming up at the end of the year; there is always something going on for Christmas, as we remember the birth of our Saviour! This year we'll be having Carolling!

No CEC this week due to EOGM, as our Church considers moving to a place of our own... CEC will continue next week as we finish up lesson 6. Do join us!

CEC Meeting 17th Aug

Nothing much to report this week, although I hope we all learned much.

Lesson started a little late this week, so we skipped the games section this week. (awww....) But I hope the time we spent in Bible study more than made up for it. Studying God's Word is never boring.

Started with a couple of songs on request, although it seemed the lyrics were going around in cycles. (just from memory only, obviously it's so much easier having the lyrics.) We then split into our groups to begin the third part of lesson 5, 'maturity'. We also went through the think it through questions. (open ended questions are always so tough to answer...)

General prayer requests as normal this week, with exams looming around the corner. Good health and travel were other concerns. Let us continue to pray for each other, especially our growth in the Lord!

No CEC next week because of business meeting, so we will be starting the new lesson of "Walk this Way" on the 31st. See you all there!!

CEC youth meeting - 10 Aug

Our usual weekly CEC was an enjoyable one this week, though we were missing some regular faces.

It started off with a couple of songs followed by a lively game of uno-stacko. For the game, there were no winners and losers as all of us had a lot of fun. (Although I was the last to make the stack fall... shhhh don't tell anyone!)

We managed to exceed the time which was supposed to be allocated for the games so we started our Bible study fairly late. The Bible study time was certainly enjoyable, as we explored God's word from Ephesians 4. After which the meeting was closed.

Key prayer requests this week revolved around school, with important tests and assignment deadlines approaching rapidly.

Do continue to join us as we seek after God's Word and enjoy the time we have together.

It has been awhile...

Well I thought it'd be such a waste to leave this blog as it was so i thought I'd put up a little new stuff here...

It has been about 8 months since the last update over here. So, this is what has been happening these last 8 months. (What I can remember of it...)

Many things have happened. Our Church moved to a new venue in April, moving us to a wonderful place (By God's Grace) in the Aljuned area.

We have also changed the format of our Christian Education (CE) within the Church, and our youth program was also changed to incorporate the new ones joining us. With time for CE now extended, and renamed as Christian Education Cell (CEC), songs and games now happen before Bible Study time. The actual Bible Study takes place in 2 smaller groups, with the girls group being led by Joanna and the guys group being led by Francis. 6 months into this new system, and I must say as a group we have really bonded and most of us are enjoying every moment of the time we spend together.

A few major events have took place these last few months that surely will remain in our minds for quite some time, especially for those involved.

On Easter Sunday this year, 9 church members got Baptized, 5 from GYM! How wonderful that they could take this step of Faith. We also had an enjoyable family day, with food and games to match. The youths formed one of the teams, and we all had a great time.

More recently, the GYM managed to piece together an evangelistic musical cum skit item for evangelistic Sunday on the 20th July. "Meaning & Joy" was performed in front 85 people, about 10 of them visitors. In the practices leading up to the event (would certainly have helped for more practices) , it was hectic, it was tough, it was really messy at times, by thank God we pulled through and pulled off a performance that we could be proud off on the actual day.

There was much to thank God for on the day, the performance, the speaker, the sound system, etc, as well as during the practices and invitation phases. Many of these we have shared just last Sunday with each other, and prayed about. We also rejoice for 1 decision for Christ. If you are reading this, do join us more often ok? (You know who you are) I am also extremely encouraged by the effort each one put in to make this event a success, I look forward to working with you guys and gals again!!

We've also made some new friends along the way these past few months. Some who have come and joined us for a few times this year. We hope we have made a positive impact in your lives. Do join us again.

We surely miss all those who have not joined us for some time, also those who have not been regular, and would dearly love that we could see each other more regularly. We are brothers and sisters in Christ after all.

Well, these are the major things that have happened. Much else has happened, and to tell every story would take many many pages to fill. (Some has probably slipped out of my memory bank too)

Let us keep growing together, as we seek after the likeness of Christ.

Best Regards and God Bless

Parent Youth Combined Meeting - 19 Dec 2007

It's been a long time but we're finally back at it once more, and with lots of new faces too. Welcome to those who are new to our ministry. Thanks to all those who made an effort to come down.

The venue was Uncle Francis' house. We started punctually at 7.45 pm, with a bunch of carols. The spirited singing was followed by 2 games. Sometimes as the host you do not really get to know how fun the games actually are.

We first broke up into 2 teams, one consisting of the adults (by no order of merit) : Pastor Peter, Esther, Bruce, Samuel, Monica, Francis, Jessica and Jiahao, and one consisting of the youths : Dorcas, Abner, JoyAnn, Lydia, Carissa, Racheal, Davy and Darius.

We first tried out spelling words backwards. This tough task was made all the more difficult when we made 1 member of each team were required to step up in a 1v1 setting against 1 member of the other team. With the help of Justin in the judging, we went through a list of words. The final scores showed the adults team leading by 2points at the end of the game.

We then carried on with the second game. The new challenge was to guess a word by getting clues by asking questions. Teams took turns to ask questions until the word was able to be guessed. To describe what happended would take a very long time, so we will just roll on to the result.

After the total scores of the 2 games were combined, the final score was that the team of adults won, in an extremely close fight.

We moved on to the interview session. An exciting discussion began, covering everything from memorable moments, to classroom situations, to teachers, to friends, to CCAs, and so on. Lots of advise, lots of fun memories, lots of personal views of how to deal with many different situations.

We also dug into the food that was laid out, an excellent spread.

I thank all those who have contributed in one way or another, for opening their home to welcome this meeting, for putting in effort to buy and prepare the food, for participating so openly, and even just for coming and adding to the atmosphere.

I enjoyed every moment of this event, and look forward to the many more that are ahead. I really wish you came, don't you?
